Biography —
Dr. Qinyan Dickerson holds a Ph.D. in Communication Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. Her research focuses on communication processes that enhance well-being and resilience in areas such as family and intimate relationships, health communication, and educational psychology. Specifically, she examines stigma management within these contexts, often working with underrepresented and marginalized groups.
At KU CCHD, Qinyan serves as the Principal Investigator for alcohol and substance misuse prevention programs. She also leads and supports implementation of a range of initiatives, including early childhood education, community-based violence intervention, maternal and child health, and primary prevention of sexual violence in Kansas.
Her expertise in participatory research includes managing data collection, conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses, preparing performance measurement reports, and delivering training and technical assistance to improve data quality and program outcomes. She has also contributed to manuscript development and stakeholder engagement to support evidence-based community programs. With extensive experience in research design and evaluation, Dr. Qinyan applies these skills to advance community health and development efforts.
