Biography

Dr. Qinyan Dickerson holds a Ph.D. in Communication Studies and a M.A. in Advertising from the University of Texas at Austin. Her research has included communication processes to improve well-being and resilience in areas such as family and intimate relationships, health communication, and educational psychology. A specific topic she focuses on is stigma management communication within these contexts where she works with underrepresented and marginalized groups. Dr. Dickerson supports use of advanced statistical methods and mixed methods research. At the Center for Community Health and Development, Qinyan serves as an Assistant Researcher Senior. In this role, she supports participatory research and evaluation and provides technical support for numerous initiatives including primary prevention of sexual violence as well as the promotion of maternal and child health in Kansas. She additionally helps oversee quality assurance of data, training, and community processes including community health assessments for community partners.
