Criteria for Discerning an Opportunity

Our center, like other organizations, tries to choose wisely among potential opportunities for research, teaching, and service.

We seek situations that involve:

1. Opportunities to learn and contribute through participatory research and evaluation, training, and technical support
2. Potential for impact on socially-important problems and outcomes
3. Opportunities to collaborate with strong local, national, and global partners
4. Adequate leadership, time, resources, and commitment to do the work well
5. Shared value for co-learning and capacity building among all partners
6. Long-term relationships and potential synergies with other efforts
7. Shared commitment to promoting community health, well-being, and equity
