Planning Guides and Handbooks

The Work Group has developed a series of Action Planning Guides to help communities outline plans for achieving their vision. These blueprints for action provide overviews of the community planning process and offer practical help. For example, the guides tell which sectors of the community should be involved in the effort and assist in identifying particular community or system changes that local coalitions can use to improve outcomes. It is our hope that each community’s planning efforts will help bring about the quality of life that we all expect and deserve.

Each handbook or planning guide is available below as a free, downloadable PDF. Hard copies are also available for $7.50 (plus shipping). To order hard copies of any of the items listed below, please complete the Manuals and Guides Order Form (DOC) with your name, mailing information, and the material desired. Submit your order by email (workgroup@ku.edu) or fax (785-864-5281). An invoice will be shipped along with your order. Payment is due upon receipt. Concerns Report Handbook: Our Concerns Report Handbook is a tool for involving citizens in identifying and addressing community concerns. Its broad goal is to help citizens identify the perceived strengths and problems related to health in their community, to discuss specific alternatives for improvement, and to present this information to decision makers, advocates, and service providers in the community. This is a powerful tool that can be used to set agendas for community health initiatives.
